Let the good times roll

Making giraffes. Made a mistake on the first one - improvised and viola everyone loves it. Sometimes that's just how it goes. The giraffe pattern can be found on Ravelry for free. Used the basic pattern but when stuffing the head forgot to add his eyes. Oops
No sense in starting over. So I improvised.

Sleepy eyes. And apparently it was a hit. This one was bought before he was finished. And orders for 3 more. All local family and friends but it's fun. And it's a little fun money.
Just finished this one. And added a mane to him
Anyone out there reading this feel free to let me know.

Getting down with the sickness

Couldn't help myself. I have been down with the flu for about two weeks. It's not fun.  Also means no knitting or crocheting. Between not having the energy to do so and not wanting to share my germs it just wasn't a good idea. However I am getting better slowly and getting more energy every day. So back at it.
Started this lil guy. He's bigger than I expected and that's just his head. He's cute though.
Working on this too. Not a good photo but I only had set it down for a minute. Little guy is due in May so I need to get it done.

Whoops

So last week's post didn't publish. Sorry. Now you get two. Started "taters" blanket. Eli - I think is the final decision for his name. Took a few times to get it right but I think i finally have a pattern I like. And it's all my own. Pulled a stitch from a book of stitches I had and went to town with it maybe once I get this done I will write it up and post it for sale. I think I need to test it once more before I sell it. Had a bit of a problem with Eli's blanket but I swear that's more because when I was casting on I had two children and a husband talking at me. It's amazing how no one needs you until you need to count. Anyway below is the start of it. Lots more to come. Bernat blanket yarn on #11 knitpicks. Oh! They have a new color and I am in love! The needles are purple! I don't have a set yet but I want them. Time for a trip to the yarn store I guess.

It is finished

Well the baby blanket is. Now on to other things.

Been quiet

Sorry guys. Lots going on. Lots of pattern searching and starting and minor item making. Few Etsy orders (thank you!) but lots to keep me busy. And snow. Argh there was so much snow. Check out my photos to see what I have been up to.

Baby blanket for a friend. Feather and fan pattern available for download on Ravelry   Baby girl due any day now. Using baby pink/ pink camo/ white red heart yarn. Size 10 knit picks needles. Once again I love them.
Baby Guinea pig - because I could. Pattern on Ravelry. Crochet in black and white and although it's not super clear in this photo there are 9mm eyes in there. I think if I make more I would like slightly smaller sized eyes or maybe to try embroidering them on.

This hat.  I am so pleased with this one. I hope to have time this weekend to make a few of these and get them on my Etsy store. Yes I altered the pattern slightly (because of my yarn size I decreased the number of stitches and changed how I do the ridges) but here is the link to the original should you want to try it yourself. If not and you want one let me know. This one is a 0-3 month sized one. Will sell for $8-10 depends on yarn.

I am terrible at following patterns I try and the first time I make it I usually do but tweaking things is part of the job. Makes it unique.
Anyway that's all for now I need to get back to that blanket if I am going to beat that baby.

Me again.

Foxie knits - but she also crochets. Have another day off with the kids. Thank you Mr #mlk.
Do hash tags work here? Guess I will have to look into that. Trying to up readership a little. If you stumble across this share it with your friends! If only to laugh as I get off on my tangents. Like that sorry.
So I have been making all those pretty baby blankets and the kids blankets on the super warm Bernat Blanket yarns. I really do love sitting under a mostly finalized project. They are so warm. Makes them hard to finish as I really would love to keep ones for myself just to enjoy. But I know better. Hubby heard me say such last night and offered to buy me the yarn to make my own. He's so sweet. He hasn't a clue that it's not cheap yarn though. It's not - even on sale a big ball is $7 or more and the little ones are around $3 each. At least locally they are.  But what I do have is leftovers. Odds and ends from the items I have finished up to here so I have started some squares with the hope of eventually having enough to sew them together.
This is a mitered square. Gives it a neat look. Simple pattern. Used a few different colors as i only had a little of each of them left. Done on a size N hook very quick. Very easy.
This is the start of a star stitch square. Also N hook. Not so easy but with this size needle and yarn very quick. I also think I'd like to try to do a square of this in the same pattern I used for the blanket I made out of this. The bricklayers lace pattern but we will see. I will do a square of each of the yarns I used for the kids blankets in the pattern that I used for each of theirs next. Hopefully with I was have something I can sew together like a memory blanket soon to show you here.

Ch ch ch changes

Can you tell I am bored a little? On break at work pulling overtime. And I was thinking. Much as I like just sharing what I am doing how I am doing it may be more informative. For example :
This pattern is called soft vines and available for free on Ravelry. It's great for bulky yarn like this. Using bernat baby blanket yarn. I will find the color and post here later. I found it at Walmart one time. Been back since wanted to grab another ball but they haven't had it. I have 7 balls so it's over 400 yards of yarn to make this. I am using knit picks interchangeable needles. I cast on with size 13 just so this was loose enough because this yarn can be tricky that way but I have worked the rest on size 11.  I do like the interchangeable especially for things like this but you have to be careful that they don't become loose. I periodically check the needles to make sure.

So much for goals

I had intended to try and post for you once a week. Or for me. Not sure how that really goes. But even so it's good to get on here and say hi and let you know what I have been up to. So far the brick patterned blanket is done. Photo below. Better photo soon. Started a new one in pink. I love this pink and you know I am not really a big pink fan. (Well the color - I like the artist). Took a while to find the right pattern. That blanket yarn is just so bulky. So photos of that too. Sorry for my absence. I mean to post it's just I get distracted. Adult ADHD at work. And lots going on with the kids - whom I love but wow are they testing me right now- and doing to overtime at the real job. So busy busy. But I am always around. Feel free to ask any questions or make special requests.

Quick news!

The etsy site has a new address.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/FoxieKnits

Foxie Knits seems easier to remember. Check it out! Thanks.

Keeping busy

So here is what else I got done this weekend. Cute right? Bad photo but the best photo will be after I ship it and it's on his head.

Then I started this :

I like it. I still don't want to go back to work tomorrow however unless someone comes to me with a big bag of money that's not likely to change. I have put it out before on other sites but mentioning here I would love to offer knitting/ crochet lessons. Maybe via Skype for you non local folks? Thinking of changing my stay store name too but we will see how that goes. Lots of love to you all. Off to bed early tonight so I can get up tomorrow.

What's shaking?

Happy new year! Holidays are over. Yippee!! Cold weather is finally coming. Means knitting time. Finished the two afghans I was working on. I have to get a photo of them for you but here is the last work in progress photo of them. Better photos to come.

The neighbor just had a new baby. She asked for a hat. So that was made tonight as well. 2 hours give or take a little time.
Hoping she likes it. Now to talk hubby into going to bed. It's only 2 am. I am seriously going to have to get back on track before work starts again next week (the "real job").
